THE BOARD’S PRIORITIES 2024
The Board has published its latest strategy for the protection and improvement of salmon stocks in the rivers of the Tay district.
The Board recognises this involves maintaining a healthy environment that adult salmon can easily access and protecting the juveniles through their lives until they go to sea. In order to do this, the Board has identified a number of key immediate priority actions which it wants to advance.
However, many of the things the Board wishes to see done are outwith the Board’s own direct powers. In such cases the Board’s purpose is to identify issues, research solutions and lobby for these things to be enacted.
Fortunately, many of the Board’s key issues are also embedded within the Scottish Government’s Wild Salmon Strategy. Therefore, achievement of the Board’s priorities means achievement of Scottish Government’s priorities too. We hope, therefore, that this strategy will be of wider interest than just to the Board’s immediate stakeholders.
This list of priority actions is broken up into several broad sections, identifying and highlighting the most significant priority issues the Board wishes to see undertaken in the Tay district.
